We trust this finds you well as we continue to go through this unprecedented time.
We acknowledge these difficult times we have been living through have caused a few problems in trying to maintain communication links with everyone, indeed it has not been easy just to keep in touch during this period. However, I’m grateful to you all for the calls, letters, texts, emails and doorstep visits that have taken place to maintain the links with each other across the whole church family.
In addition to the above, we have been posting information on the Church website and other social media to keep you in touch with church business and the ever-changing developments caused by the pandemic. If you need advice on accessing this, particularly the members section of the website, please contact Bev Davies for assistance.
Many of you have been able to join in the services, prayer meetings and café that we have held on Zoom and I can reassure those who had concerns about Zoom Pro that it has been used without any safety or security problems and would encourage you to join us. We are looking to add social evenings to the programme - the first one being held on Thursday, 21st January at 7 p.m. and also the possibility of commencing Bible study groups on Zoom. We’ll have further discussions in February to see if these are possible.
Back in July the Leadership set up a small team to continually review the implications of the pandemic on the Church and this team meets on a regular basis. As you are well aware all the progress that we made towards re-opening the Church for in-person services has had to be paused with the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases – particularly in the Magor/Undy area. The Review group met earlier in the month and recommended that in-person services and Life groups should not be resumed whilst Wales is in a Tier 4 situation. We will be continuing our Sunday service on Zoom and to enable more people to access this we are now providing a dial up telephone link for the service. Instructions on how to dial in are given on the information from Harry for the service links
It was our intention to hold a Church meeting in January and this would have included a special resolution so that we could hold meetings with a combination of in-person and electronic (Zoom) attendance, this to be in place for the Annual General Meeting in March. As we have now had to cancel the January meeting we will be unable to do this and it is unlikely that we will be able to hold the AGM in March as planned. The meeting will be rearranged when we are able to hold it in a safe manner and the Officers and deacons have agreed to remain in place until the AGM can be held. The Accounts for 2020 will be published on the members area of the website when they are available or copies can be provided on request to me.
If you have not already done so I would encourage you to inform Harry at
of an e-mail address to enable us to get information to you sooner and also reduce the use of paper to ‘Save the Planet’
Finally, I would thank you for continuing to support the Church and would encourage you to pray for the Church as we seek His will on the way forward after the pandemic and for Harry, Alice and the deacons as they sustain and guide the Church through this difficult period.
May God bless you
The Zoom celebrations will continue until further notice.
During this time that we are not able to hold services at the Chapel
we would encourage you to continue to use your offering envelopes on a weekly basis and place them on one side until we are able to re-commence services.
Alternatively, consider changing to giving by standing order –
please contact Davina or Jonathan for details of the Church account.
